Problem Statement

1. Career & Motherhood- How to restart?

- Sareeta was a Php developer in 2014 when she got married. She didn’t want to leave her development job and get married but she also understood her parent’s feelings and also needed a partner. When she took a career break, within 2014-2019 the tech world has changed tremendously.
What she could have done to remain updated? Moreover, she is now a mother of a 3 year old, how can she start her career again and still play a role of being a mother? What can be done to upskill?

2. Single Parent- Feeling Helpless!

- Purnima, a 25 year old woman and a mother of 2 children as she got married when she was 18 years old, lost her husband in a car accident. As she got married while just being 18 years old, she could not complete her education and her husband was the only source of income.
What can she do to help herself and her children? She also wants to convince her in-laws to go out and learn something new and start earning. Also, how can she focus on her mental health of being alone? What can be done to help her? She wants to learn everything right from riding a moped to being independent, where can she start?

3. Domestic Abuse- Enough is Enough!

- Navya, a modern girl who loved her partner for 6 long years and then tied the knot with him is now facing domestic violence. Her parents don’t want to listen to her as she went against their will to get married and now she is helpless.
Nobody wants to help her and she is being suicidal. She has almost lost her self-respect and wants to die? Prerna, her friend wants to help her but don’t know how to go about it. Also, Navya is scared of her husband and about the consequences she will face. How to stop domestic abuse and help women like Navya who are silent, scared and angry at the same time?

4. Internet- I don’t feel safe online.

- Shweta was an instagram queen, she loved to use the internet and post pictures of her now and then. She was fond of making new friends but one incident online changed her life. A stalker and one of her followers on instagram, made her fake profile and used her pictures to con people but when Shweta realized everything, it was too late and she was behind the bars!
How to teach digital privacy to people? How to protect people like Shweta who get trapped online and how to prevent them?

5. Tech Education- Why am I lagging behind?

- There are a lot of women-only platforms and initiatives yet the ratio of women in tech doesn’t seem to rise much.
Faizana, an undergraduate student says that “She wants to become a programmer but no support from her family, lack of resources are major points why she is lagging behind. Apart from that, none of her female classmates are competitive and helpful at the same time and she wishes that she had friends like her brother Abdul who now works an IT firm, just because of help from seniors, motivation from friends and competition to learn more and become aware of different platforms like Github & Summer of Code etc”.
What can be done to increase diversity in tech and to boost up the confidence of millions of underrepresented groups in tech?
